Life in the fast lane is what people are used to
But I don’t want to,
I’ve had enough of the rat race
I want s l o w.
I want to chew my food and relish its taste,
Yes, eat s l o w.
Smell the flowers, chill out, appreciate the clouds,
life, people’s smiles,
Cultivate veggies, grow trees, meditate for hours,
I want to stare at the nothingness for periods of time
Contemplating my being, thinking, or ‘not’ thinking.
We get caught in ‘life’, and working to live
But that is not too important,
We are in a rush to get there,
To our dream, our utopia,
Our target state, performance metrics,
Definition of success, or ‘happiness’,
Not knowing it is a mirage, fool’s gold.
Live the moment, make it last,
The moon smiles and waits,
River says ‘No hurry’
Birds say the same,
Flower says ‘I’m chilling out,
and just making myself pretty.’
I want quality, not quantity,
Let’s savour life,
Let things percolate, simmer,
Don’t be harsh on yourself or others,
Observe things and events as they come
Discover, enjoy, watch, reflect,
When moments pass,
Breathe it in, touch it, let it stay for as long as you can.
The sea’s ebb and flow are endless moments,
There is no hurry,
The seasons cannot be rushed,
You cannot force them out of their time.
The same way love is eternal
It always waits, it is patient,
And for those who love,
Time is not.
