Faith is believing in something that you cannot see….and waiting becomes easier to bear when you have faith that something will come to pass. Do you have faith that true love exists, that it will come for those who look for it, in whatever form, like the train over the Alps?
A Lesson in Faith & Waiting –
Between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. It is an impossibly steep, very high part of the mountains. They built a train track over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice. They built these tracks even before there was a train in existence that could make the trip. They built it because they knew that some day, the train would come.
~ Under the Tuscan Sun
I went to Tacloban thinking I can minister to people. The reality is I’m learning more from them, with such great lessons in resilience, patience, courage, rising from adversities, understanding & processing grief, moving on, & finding hope in the midst of hopelessness. How rich they are, I tell myself. -7 feb 2014

To a Hero Filled with Love and Light, Nelson Mandela
**Dedicated to a hero filled with love and light that just crossed over, may you rest in peace…(1918-2013)**
So many great things have been written about you. All I can say is that we are so fortunate to have witnessed one of the greatest men to have walked the planet in our lifetime. You embody justice, fairness, courage, the ability to love, quiet dignity, unselfishness, and a great sense of humour, always manifesting in your beautiful smile. Prison and betrayal never took away that smile, as if signifying your faith in humanity, in the goodness of men, your belief in the future, and in seeing hope for mankind.
***People are remembered for different reasons when they die. As for you, I believe it is the pursuit of love, truth, freedom and justice. May you live forever in the hearts of the young and the old. Rest in peace great man of our generation!
What happened, my friend Emmy?
I wish I had taken care of you
More than I ever did.
We grew up together and shared so many dreams,
Went to the same school, lucky to be called
scholars of the people.
We were poor, but the future was bright.
I took care of you, coming and going, where we stayed
away from home,
Until we drifted apart, no longer close friends.
One day I saw you.
There was no light in your eyes,
You had marks in your arms
There was no joy in your voice,
You were in front of me but had a far away look.
What happened my friend?
What did they do to you?
Did they hurt you? What happened?
I could not fathom, even as I tried to find out.
I tried to find out, God knows I tried
But I had no answer.
So many years later, I got the answer
Something did happen,
Something an innocent girl did not deserve.
Hey Emmy, I wish I had looked after you
A lot more than I did.
I wished you fulfilled the hopes we had
Oh Emmy my friend,
You could have been all that you had hoped for,
You and me, we had our dreams then,
We grew up together,
I wish I had looked after you more.
What creative work has caught your heart, dear friend? Whatever they are, have you started pursuing them? What passion is there in your heart that needs birthing? Just like the rainbow, there could be a pot of gold at the end. Not necessarily riches in material things, but riches in joy and satisfaction at having created something .
